Our Holidays

Traveling the world since 2005

BA 116 JFK – LHR

Arriving on the overnight from JFK, I waited for my friends and we all headed to the arrivals lounge for a quick shower and freshen up before we went on to the Concord Room to top up the alcohol levels. This was my first trip to the arrivals lounge, as normally when I transit through Heathrow, I don’t have time or I am too late and the Arrivals Lounge is shut. The facilities were good, and the shower woke me up and revived me ready for the next flight 3 hours to OTP.

After the shower a quick trip up to the departures level and via the First Wing to the Concorde Room, where several earlier arrivals were waiting.

A number of us were getting nervous about this next flight as we kept getting seating update. Something was going on. It looked like there were several late changes in aircraft. All would be revealed on board when chatting to the crew.

We managed to find a space on the terrace where most of us could sit and enjoy a glass or two of champagne, with some scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. It was dawning on us all that this mad trip was starting to come to an end. This had been an epic weekend.

BA 886 LHR – OPT

Arriving at Otopeni, and deplaning there was a long queue at passport control, a number of the group were turning around and heading straight back home. But I had decided to stop over and stay in the city centre. So my new friend from this trip Cheny booked an Uber for the two of us to the Doubletree, Unirii Square. The traffic was bad and the driver was not good either, but we arrived safely.

After a freshen up and some sleep Cheny and I decided to go for a walk in search of food and found a place not far from the university. I was impressed with the city and really want to go back sometime and visit it properly.
