The trip to Hawaii was a long time in planning with me looking at the ITA Matrix for hours and hours, trying to get the best routing with the most points and the lowest cost.
The other issue was the nest this trip around Christmas to all the family commitments at that time.
I was lucky to find a friend who is equally crazy about flying that also thought that 3 days in Hawaii between Christmas and New Year actually made perfect sense. So with the flights booked in August the trip too shape.
